so after two days of chilling and shops!! We headed to pearl harbour!
Went by bus, took 1hr and 30mins but only cost us $2.50.
Dropped us right outside the uus Arizona main entrance.
They allow averagely 2000 tickets a day to actually get to go over to the memorial site, which is a first come first serve basis,
Oh and don’t take loads, bags of any kind are not allowed, you put them in the locker which costs $3, so a nice guide helped us, told us to queue to get our free ticket to see the site.
We had some time to kill so we headed to the open museums and had a walk around.
Fact for you all! if you didn’t already know about the actual attack on pearl harbour, the guys operating the radar saw an unnormally large spike on it , called it through and was told not to worry about it, possibly the planes coming from California they were scheduled, a lot later though.
They had also lined up all the planes tip to tip, open on the air field.
They also later on shoot at there own planes that were scheduled in later that day.
Pretty crazy mess ups !
We watched a film that had footage from the day then you jump on a mini ferry and head to the memorial site.
So this sits in the middle of the sunken ship.
As you enter there is a section in the middle that you can look down and at the back is the list of all the men that lost there lives.
Bit windy to take pictures, but lots of tropical fish swim around here.
These men survived from the USS Arizona, very lucky as the only options really were to sink with the ship or jump in to the oil flamed water.
From the sides there are areas for you to see the tip to the tail of the ship.
As you look out and down to the wreck you notice tiny shiny white shimmery blogs surface, at first I thought they were jelly fish, but the longer they are sat on top the bigger they grow, blogs of what appears to be leaking oil or from the rust, either way lots disperse especially when there’s more movement.
You get about 15-20mins then it’s time to head back.
We then finished up in the museum sections, oh but managed to fit in an ice lolly, certainly needed it, then headed back!
