So… been a while but just because we aren’t on our big travels any more little travels are still worth the write up!… we are here for 4 nights, the average amount of time needed from what we have been told and read and means we are away for Kierans birthday! As he’s a bit disgruntled that 5 years together we are normally away for mine… perfectly timed I’d say!… flew from east midlands with Flybe ,which was easy enough… slight moment of panic and flash back of a propeller plane !! As it’s only a 1 hour flight. Surprisingly the turbulence was as bad as our last experience! And the taxi from the runway to the gate seemed longer than our flight, off the plane through customs we were on our way! Instead of a expensive taxi ride we hopped on the train , around €5 per person per way, getting our ticket from the ticket office as the machines had longer cues, the lady told us platform 2 to Amsterdam central but to scan ticket before getting on, the trains reminded us of Sydney , Clean and some being double deckers!
Now the funny part getting our tram ticket, the machine allows English however not much detail in it, basically we allowed the people behind us to go while we watched, we kept it as simple as possible – 1 hour travel time 2 tickets around €5. Our hotel is not far from the rembrantplein square, we got to the hotel to find out my request for a canal view , because its Kierans birthday, and we had been given an upgrade!! Happy days!!…
Now for food time … lining the stomach… the rain started coming down so we went into the burgerfabriek which is a make your own burger charcoal grill and was delicious worth the visit… even just for the fact they do a pot that has ketchup and mayo .. kieran wasn’t as keen
being late we have called it a night as we have Anne frank booked for the morning! X
