so we had slept in but managed to squeeze in a extra dip in the spas, we headed of at a nice speed and it just seemed like it was going to be a long day of driving…
We started to look for a petrol station and took a turn off to what we thought was a station…it wasn’t just one a tour park uses for their coaches, but it was awesome and random! She was nice enough to say that it was 50c cheaper 50k away , but they had kangaroos just chilling!! Haha!…
so decided to just head to that one as it was en route….well this is when the future looked bleak….
Just driving as normal I heard a rattle noise, kieran just said it’s either the jelly beans or coke can…I still thought it sounded like a stone flicked around…but it stopped so didn’t stopped just carried on…well with in a 10 minuets we heard a massive screech which hturned in to a real grinding noise sound, we immediately pulled over and just looked at each other…
Kieran opened up the engine compartment and had a peak, Well part of the fan had completely come away and was stuck right at the bottom, then noticed because radiator was leaking as the fan had quite clearly gone into it and beacuse of that the engine was incredibly hot so we waited for a while so kieran could get in and pull it out…this is what we got out…
At this point we were 12 k away from the nearest caravan park or town, ironically called, mount surprise… Walking 12k in the peak day wasn’t an option so we started her up and just rolled her, sounding awful we just had to keep going but at 1k away we just smelt burning and as we looked down smoke was coming from the engine, kieran pulled over told me to get out grab valuables and stand back, we had just gained a 20l water Jerry can which we filled, Kieran chucked it on the engine and it just crackled and fried like an egg in a frying pan, it was awful. After the smoke started to disappear and the crackel turned to a boil gurgle we decided to walk to the caravan park which was literally in sight just over a bridge, another blow was walking past all the road kill, disgusting sites.
When we got to the park they were on the ball from the start, jo and joe the owners couldn’t of been more helpful, joe by trade is the local mechanic, I thought we were saved, him kieran and Thomas a lad working for him at the park headed off to toe her back…
As they got there he had a look before moving and found that the water pump was completely ripped off! This apprently is never seen…damage was mounting up, they got her back and put her on the ramps to see,
Without cleaning her down and taking her apart it was impossible to tell what went wrong, so joe and Thomas got cracking but not before setting us up in staff accommodation to reduce costs.
Tomorrow will be the verdict….
