Fraser Island …day one!..

We had to be ready at the bus stop for 7:20am… I repeat AM!!! We don’t see that sort of time any more only if we desperately need the toilet!, we got there nice and early and waited… Two tour buses and a private tour came and went and refused us with a, oh yours will be the next one,..waited for 10 minuets then another 5, then Phil, one of the two managers of our caravan park came out to go to the shop and stared at us funny, he asked and said hmm should be here then went back in, little to our knowledge that they were then on cool dingos back finding out why we were still here, only found out when I tried to call myself after 25 minuets then stuck in queue of two till I got an operator who said, oh your the couple from scarness caravan park, yer the lady’s on the phone to my colleague.

After a debate it came to light they, the tour operators, had booked the wrong date, not sure how that’s possible when the tour only runs certain days…anyway a coach was on its way to us, the guys at the caravan park had their keys ready to take us to the dock so we didn’t miss out!!,

Checked in at the tour desk then headed out on the ferry, the rides about 45 minuets, tad windy but lovely views.

As we pulled up we were told to head to the start of the dock to find Scott!, who would be our tour guide.

Few people started to join and once we were all there he went through the list, yet again we were missing…this meant we were in limbo as to weather we’d have accommodation, but Scott was on the case and got this sorted, one party of two was only registered by phone number! Ha!

So first stop was lake Mackenzie, best way to describe it is a natural blue lagoon , just a little colder, the sand has minerals so great for the skin and it’s lovely and clear better than any muggy thing you’d see anywhere else!

We had some Chinese set up next to us which were having so much fun with the simplest of things…chucking a ball and swim racing to see who can get it first, and a shovel… Yes a shovel , brought to an island like this to dig you out when stranded , but not for them !! It’s a fun pass time in the water!!! Haha!!

Our group started a little scattered as some joined us up from rainbow beach to there, but we sat with a Swiss couple who equally were enjoying the Rays the soft sand and the Chinese.

We then had lunch just a group of 19 which was just right, 4 Taiwanese, 2 Spanish and the rest pretty much from around Germany and uk.

We headed off to our next stop called the basin , which described in its name has the bottom and shape of a washing basin, this you can swim in, not debugged, but you can certainly stand and stare for a while without realising.

We then introduced ourselves most of the tour had just started out and we learnt that Kieran , including the guided, was 4 oldest…old mannnn! Haha, the Spanish made us all laugh as they were the maturest couple but their English wasn’t so good, so they tried to explain that they were husband and wife, however the wife proceeded to say that she was her husbands husband…hehe!!… Then as she tried to say that they were the parents of the group she then called her self the farther of the group… We all had a good laugh.

Had a brill walk through the rainforest and headed to central station, where it used to be the headquarters for Fraser Island forestry operations, once we’d had a look round we walked through the wanggoolba creek which was lovely and clear.

We then headed back to kingfisher resorts dock to catch the sunset, unfortunately bit couldn’t but still pretty.

We then headed to the Lodge which was lovely, had showers and headed to get food and make happy hour…yer I forgot my camera.
